Happy Birthday, Becca!

The Flood of 2011 - 100 Year Flood

Saturday, May 7, 2011
Today the Mississippi River is at 46.8 feet.  The sights of the mighty Mississippi are amazing.  We are truly getting to witness history.  We drove to Tunica last Sunday afternoon to see if we could get a glimpse of the river.  Many of the casinos were closing due to the floods.  At this point, all of the casinos are closed and most are flooded.  We drove to Riverside Drive and walked the river walk across from Mud Island this afternoon.  It was amazing how many people were out looking at this awesome event.  We even saw a guy wind surfing....on the Mississippi River.  The river is expected to crest on Tuesday at 48 feet.  It was a gorgeous day to just take a walk and enjoy mother nature.

Kite Flying

The Easter Bunny brought the girls kites in their baskets.  After flying  Emma and Maylee's kites one day, Dad had to have one to fly.  Becca hid her kite in the car after Daddy flew Emma's in the tree and Maylee's on top of Grandmama and Poppy's house.  Dan took after his Grandaddy's love of flying kites.  :)  Here are some pics from our kite flying days.

First Swim of the Season

We celebrated Ma and Cowpa's 69th Birthdays on April 30th with a swimming party and crab/shrimp boil at Aunt Carrie's house.  Our very brave little girls  did mind the cold water and loved playing in the pool.  They would get out and just shiver, but then jump right back in for some more fun.  It did help that they could run over and get in the hot tub! Becca was a little more hesitant than Emma and Maylee.  She would just hang out near the steps.  :)  By the end of the day, Emma and Maylee were swimming without their floaties.  We had a great time visiting and celebrating.  Hurry up warmer weather....we are reading for some more pool days!
