The Flood of 2011 - 100 Year Flood

Saturday, May 7, 2011
Today the Mississippi River is at 46.8 feet.  The sights of the mighty Mississippi are amazing.  We are truly getting to witness history.  We drove to Tunica last Sunday afternoon to see if we could get a glimpse of the river.  Many of the casinos were closing due to the floods.  At this point, all of the casinos are closed and most are flooded.  We drove to Riverside Drive and walked the river walk across from Mud Island this afternoon.  It was amazing how many people were out looking at this awesome event.  We even saw a guy wind surfing....on the Mississippi River.  The river is expected to crest on Tuesday at 48 feet.  It was a gorgeous day to just take a walk and enjoy mother nature.
